What is a VAT Amendment?
A VAT amendment involves updating the details of your VAT registration with the FTA. This
process is required when
certain business information changes after your initial VAT registration, such as changes to
business name, address, or
contact details. Keeping these details current is mandatory to avoid non-compliance penalties.
When Should You Amend Your VAT Details?
- Change of Business Address or Contact Details :
These must be updated immediately to
ensure you receive all official
communications from the FTA.
- Change in Bank Details :
Updating your bank details is essential to receive VAT refunds
without issues.
- VAT Grouping Changes :
Any alterations in VAT group membership or structure must be
promptly amended.
- VAT Grouping Changes :
Structural changes in ownership require immediate amendments to
ensure your
registration remains valid.
Direct amendments are prohibited in specific fields
In the following list, you will find the fields which cannot be edited directly:
- The 'Exception from VAT registration' under the section 'About the VAT application' cannot
be changed directly.
- There is no direct way to update the field 'Notification language change' in the Declaration
section
- The firm cannot directly update communications preferences.
